Diablo,

I think there is a fine line between these sales people being generally helpful and condescending. Many people think of these things as a major purchase, people like my dad for instance have the same dress shoes for years and years, these people may not know that you are an A Class Balla. But , since you are such a fine judge of character I'm going to trust you and say yeah, [censored] this condescending biatch.

Tron,

Have you seen the rates for live-in shoe tree sanders lately? Household staff is really expensive these days!

[ QUOTE ]

I get similarly annoyed when waitstaff at high-end restaurants act this way towards people to whom this is obviously a big extravagance and quite likely a special occassion.

[/ QUOTE ]

This pisses me off so much. I have seen waitstaff who seemed to be trying to embaress a customer.

bro,
sounds like you have insecurities. its almost as if you want everyone to bow down to you because you are a 'big shot'. And when they don't you feel, not so big.

Diablo,

Next time I would advise you to stop in at the shoe shiner right before going into the shoe store to buy the new shoes!

Less stress = worth the $10!!!!

Wouldn't putting a sock on the shoe tree work just as well? I'm assuming a shoe tree is the wood thing that you put in them to help them keep their shape.

My shoes are white and have stripes on them, they're okay.

Diablo,

I think this is a similar problem you will face at more expensive restaurants as well. In my opinion, part of the problem comes from the fact that many of these employees assume that they SHOULD be sounding slightly pompous and stuffy, because that is one way to distinguish high-end service. In a sense, it is a viscious cycle, that these salespeople, hosts, etc. put on this act because that is what high-end places are "supposed to do"
