Which poker city is the best?
After 5 years of playing semi-professionally live and online, I've decided to move to a city near enough to a cardroom that I can play full time. My question to all of you is if you could pick up and move to a city with a cardroom within 30 minutes to an hour at the furthest away where do you choose? Vegas? Mississippi? Florida? Atlantic City?
Keep in mind i'm a 25 year old guy so a city with nightlife and not just a hole like ...Lake Charles Louisiana or Biloxi |

Re: Which poker city is the best?
Vegas? maybe
Miss? no FLorida? hell no for the games AC? hell no for the area (maybe 30-60 minutes away) Go with a suburb of LA for the best game selection and most games available. |

Re: Which poker city is the best?
Vegas is much more of a town than Atlantic City. You go right outside the casinos in AC and it is basically a slum. Vegas is much more of a town than AC is, but AC has nice areas that are not in the immediate vicinity. Between the two Vegas is much more of a town with more of a nightlife than AC, plus there are more places to play. Strictly between Vegas and AC, I would say Las Vegas. If you have never been to AC or Vegas I would suggest planning trips to both to see what you like first.

Re: Which poker city is the best?
where do u live now?
friend of mine moved to LV (from NYC...but not to play poker) 6 months ago and she is dying to get out of there. its a cultural wasteland and people are just 'wierd' there....too many degenerates, lowlifes, dirtbags, someone always has an alterior motive there. it might be ok to go there for a weekend, but after a while that city just kills you. AC has no nightlife really (if u compare it to NYC, LA, or LV) and the city itself is just shambles...living just 30 minutes outside of AC would be awesome if u werent 25...though some places are good in the summer (jersey shore), in the winter theyre ghost towns. you can always try philadelphia (about 45min to 1hr away). |

Re: Which poker city is the best?
A lot of people would find Vegas to be a slum. I was appaled when I drove around the north part of town. But SoCal has its rough spots too.
Perhaps anywhere there is a lot of gambling depresses the surroundings. -Vegas -AC -SoCal -Detroit But there are some places where it doesn't -East Chicago -Southeast Connecticut. |
