Re: Is it possible to play from the iPhone?
Unfortunately the iPhone doesn't have Java, so you can't run any of the Java poker rooms (Hollywood, etc). If Java became available that would be the most likely option.
If there were some 'remote desktop' software for the phone then you could use that to access your desktop over the net and run poker that way. I can't find any though but I'm sure someone will port VNC or something eventually. I suspect the phone is too slow, but if someone ported qemu to run on the phone then you could run the poker software itself. Unfortunately though, there's no real solution at the moment. It would be great if poker rooms could have mobile clients one day. |

Re: Is it possible to play from the iPhone?
yeah, the only viable solution going forward will be vnsea.. a 'chicken of the vnc' port. It's reallly slow though as it is now, but if it gets a little faster it might work fine for 1 table. |

Re: Is it possible to play from the iPhone?
I remember getting an email from UB over a year ago where they were 'beta' testing a cell phone version of their client. I never tried it out though because data plans here in Canada are ridiculously priced. I wonder if it's still around. The other problem with the iphone is it's a closed platform.. If any site wanted to make a client it would have to web based with ajax.. not the best security environment imo. |

Re: Is it possible to play from the iPhone?
Runstop is right, Apple seems to be very against opening the platform at all. The new firmware yesterday rendered all 3rd party apps useless.
Best bet for mobile playing is ultraportable laptop with Verizon/AT&T/Sprint broadband card. |

Re: Is it possible to play from the iPhone?
Yes, Apple seem convinced that third party apps are bad. Pity.
A ultra mobile PC could be the way to go. Maybe something like the oqo: http://www.dynamism.com/oqo2/main.shtml But one cool thing about Poker on a mobile (especially the iphone) is the number of non-savvy poker players who might play the game via the device. Not too many oqo users out there, but lots of iphone users. |
