Za should have been spelled 'zza'. They dropped the ball on that one.

The new Monster promotion at Party pissed him off.

come on dude, that makes no sense b/c there is no f-ing way that he is in the red as far a tourney results. so him playing live in tournaments is most definately +EV, whether he needs the money or not

However, you guys are like star struck teenage girls... you keep up with PP the way my sister use to idolize New Kids On the Block.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did New Kids on The Block also write some of the most reasoned and intelligent tournament theory posts on 2+2? Then count me in, I'm a NKOTB groupie! When is NKOTB going to win a WPT event or final table at the WSOP so I can railbird?

Or maybe you don't play tournament poker very well, and don't study to improve your game, and just like to donk away all your money. I can understand why you think reading Paul's blog is a waste of time. After all, you could use that time to instead drop another 30 BBs at 3-6!

I enjoy reading his scrabble blogs. I started dabbling into the Scrabble world after reading his blogs. The game is funner than I thought, and there is more strategy to it than I'd realized before reading his blog.

I'd like to challenge.

[/ QUOTE ]

Your challenge is invalid. Funner is a valid English word.

HOWEVER... I've seen this guy get upset playin in the 60-120 mix game at the Bellagio in a way that no "millionare" ever would. I would think he could handle a $10,000 swing with a little more dignity if he was in fact a Mulit-millionare.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a well known, well corroborated story about Paul Phillips having AA cracked twice in a row during the WSOP ME, and taking it all with great aplomb.

For some reason I believe this thoroughly corroborated story far more than I believe you.

Perhaps it's because the only thing I know for sure about you is that you're a petty and vindictive [censored].

Career Tournament Earnings

Danny Nguyen $1,068,801
Tuan Lee $4,548,270
John Gale $2,189,273
Paul Phillips $ 2,313,974

I'm struggling to understand your point. Are you saying that Tuan Lee has spent more than $4.5M in tournament buyins and is a net loser at playing tournament poker? And thus Paul must be a loser as well because he's won less than Tuan?

If your point is that Paul has a negative expectation playing tournament poker, you are arrogantly mistaken. Do you really believe he's played the equivilent of 230 $10k buyin tournaments? You realize this would take over four years playing one a week without ever taking a break? My guess is that he's played fewer tournaments than anyone on this list, since even at the peak he was a part-time player. So it wouldn't surprise me if his expectation in any big $10k tournament is between 2 and 4 buyins, given his obvious skills.

Of course if you have evidence to the contrary (and by evidence I don't mean more self important blather from an anonymous new poster), let's hear it.
