Well, one thing's for sure: he's experiencing it now. It'd be interesting to hear how (if at all) his thoughts have changed.

In his blog he pretty much blames his downswing on bad play. Nice try though.

Yes, and I gave him credit for that elsewhere, though his being consistent on the point doesn't make it valid.

IIRC he even says in his blog that his SD is literally twice as high in PLO as in NLHE, and yet he thinks variance cannot explain a downswing twice as large as what he had experienced in NLHE. It's like he simply doesn't get the concept.

When people go on these huge downswings why don't they move down? I don't get it.

If you are down 300bb why aren't you moving down a level?

If you have a 2000bb downswing then it seems to me that you are way over-rolled or you should have moved down a LONG time ago.
