Tips for playing 2-10 stud hi
Apparently Harrah's St. Louis will now spread 7 stud whenever there is enough interest. They have a game of 2-10 going right now.
Any tips on playing this game? I'm pretty sure it's a no ante game with a $2 BI. |

2 ways to go on it as it is basically the same as a 1-5 spread. either nutpeddle since there is no ante or play fairly loose if people are not raising it on 3rd which is often the case...try to catch a monster like trips with a hidden small pair and then trap people.
I usually start playing uber tight but then get bored and switch it up, especially when others at the table start to notice or make comments. Once some dealer made some comment about how i hadn't played since he sat down...wasnt too thrilled about that. |

Re: Tips for playing 2-10 stud hi
I played this game recently at the Grand in Tunica. PoorLawyer is right on the money, play either super-tight, or raise $10 every hand you can to generate some action.
Unfortunately, many of these stud games are populated by older gentlemen who HATE IT when you raise. They'll respond by folding, then grumbling about the "maniac" who keeps raising, and how hold em' has ruined poker. Usually these games are much better during weekends/late night when you'll get drunks/tourists/people waiting for a seat in another game. A lot of hold em' players think that AK10o (with cards already out) is a raising hand in stud. These are the games that you'll want to play in. Stud is a great game, but I think that the $1/5 & $2/10 no-ante, spread limit games are not too good. Casinos SHOULD spread structured limit games like hold em', $3/6 w/.25 cent ante, $1 bring-in, $5/10 w/.50 cent ante, $2 bring-in, and so-on. But, it's good to see stud being spread at all these days. Hopefully live stud (below $20/40) isn't dead after all. |

Some dealers need to seriously stfu already.
No-ante games are boring. I mean, if people are playing loose, just sit back and collect the money. Usually, though, the games are tight and uninteresting. I'd rather play hold'em. |
