My dvr is too freakin loud
I gave into my wife recently, and got a dvr from my cable company. But one thing I didn't count on was that the machine makes a fair amount of noise, even while the power is off, often at night, as I'm trying to get to sleep.
Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions? I would cover the damn thing with a towel, but the instructions caution that proper ventilation is important. Does tivo have the same issue? |

Re: My dvr is too freakin loud
Sounds like a bad machine. The noise from mine is nearly imperceptable. See if you can exchange it.

Re: My dvr is too freakin loud
Wyton, from what the cable guy told me, the DVR receivers are basically computers. They have hard drives and what not and fans which make the noise you speak of. I don't know if they have quieter versions out, but I am sure you will get used to it. It isn't that loud.
