Poker in China
Does somebody on this forum plays online from China?
Gonna move there in June and i'd like some infos, the archives are not very helpful. thanks in advance |

I was under the impression it's completely illegal in china and you can't play at all.
This is just 2nd hand info, I never looked into it. |

Yes i play from China. You can't access Party poker and a few others but stars/tilt/UB/bodog/absolute all work fine.

Offshore online gambling is technically illegal in mainland China.
PartyPoker (PartyGaming) is voluntarily blocking itself from China while it negotiates for a license with the Ministry of Finance and the China Welfare Lottery adminstration. The China Ministry of Information Industry (MoII) is blocking IP traffic to 888.com (Pacific Poker) because 888.com got a little bit too aggressive with its ambush marketing last Autumn when 888.com signed Mandarin Chinese-speaking snooker sensation Ding Junhui (who competes in the UK) to a sponsorship contract and 888.com launched a version of its website in Simplified Chinese. FullTilt, PokerStars, UB, etc. are all currently "flying under the radar" so they are not being blocked by the MoII. |
