Default is it \"safe\" to play online again?

I remember two years ago or somewhere around that time online poker took quite a big hit due to "legalization" of online gaming. PokerStars, PartyPoker, etc. tried to ban all US players from playing on live money games.

How is the scenario these days? I just checked PokerTracker and the last live hand I played online was dated the 3rd of March 2005 so that gives you an idea how much out of the loop I've been about online poker.

Hope I posted this in the correct forum and thanks in advance for any answers!

Welcome!
What exactly is the question? If it's legal to play? Yes. If the online poker population is still a good size? Definitely!
Lots of donks, lots of amazing players

It was about a year ago. It wasn't legalization (wtf?) it was an attempt to criminalize financial transactions with sites. Parter Poker banned Americans. Stars did nothing of the sort.

Online poker is just fine.

How would I go about transferring money to and from sites? Before, I just used NETeller but I think US residents can't use that anymore.

EDIT: So PartyPoker is no good for US residents? Just want to clarify...

Party has closed its doors to US customers.

UltimateBet, FullTilt, PokerStars, Bodog, Cake, Prima and a few others are US friendly.

You can sign up for epassporte (similar to Neteller, but not as fast). The 'internet gambling' forum is the best place for this information as there are numerous posts there about depositing.

Thanks, MediaPA (and to everyone as well for the quick replies)! I guess I have to do some reading on that sub-forum...

Some VISA/Mastercards work for deposits and a lot of people do withdrawal by check.

Yup, PokerStars and Full Tilt both allow withdrawal by check under many circumstances. In fact, some US members can even deposit by e-check with Poker Stars.

The Mastercards/Visas mentioned are debit cards from certain banks, most notably Wells Fargo.

If the above fails, then there is always ePassporte or wire transfers.
