Default New to Berlin

I have just moved to Berlin and started German classes. I do not yet know enough Deutsche to read the other posts on Berlin, so I was hoping someone could help me in English.

1) I have heard that casinos in Germany charge a very high rake. Is this true and are the games still beatable after the rake?

2) Which casinos usually spread low level NL or mid level limit holdem?

3) Are there any good MTTs between 50-200 Euro in Berlin?

4) Anyone want to invite me to a low level home game? I don't know very many people here, and none of them play poker.

thank you for your help

Subletting in Charlottenburg until end of month. I'm still looking for someplace more permanent after that, but I have a bicycle and ride all over.

For the casinos you might check these websites:

www.spielbank-berlin.de (english)
http://www.westspiel.de/content/berlin/001intro.php (sorry! german)

We had a thread about games in Berlin: they have a 5/10 NL ring running.
But you have to check out to be sure.

They have tourneys too: check the website and dont hasitate to visit them and ask (after a drink or two) the other players about events or alternatives...

BigPoppa, I'll be in Berlin next week for one month and I wanted to ask the same questions as you.

If you find some good place to play poker, please tell me. That would be great!

The 5/10NL game in the Spielbank is beatable due to the donkeys you'll find there. The rake (flat fee of 10 Euros if pot > 100 Euros) is tough and certainly removes a decent amount of money off the table slowly but surely.

There are plenty of underground games that have ridiculous rake structures, including many of which I consider to unbeatable. There are also some low-limit games (underground of course) around town that are aimed more for fun and charge little to no rake. If you want some more info just shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Deifinitely interested in dinky fun home games, as I would like to meet more people in town.
