Default 5-6 year old soccer play--- bad form or good plan?

This is directed at you parents of 5 year olds or those of you still under the delusion that you could take on an infinite number of them.

Our "under 6" team got skunked 2-0 last saturday. That sucked. However, at one point one of our players was just sort of wandering around near the opponents goal and we had a throw in. I asked the kid if he thought he could throw it all the way down the field to the other player and this was successful. Unfortunately, the wandering kid failed to complete the goal.

Anyway, I could instill this obvious offside play into our offensive scheme (not that we have anything other than "everyone go after the ball at once") if I picked the right two kids, I think we could score easily.

The opposing parents will likely call foul, but they don't call offsides in this mini junior league so it seems fair to me.

Thoughts?

lol move to sporting events if necessary....

There is no offside rule for throw-ins anyway...

Bad form. Teach them the rules, not which ones are ok to exploit. They are 5 years old. You should be working on the teaching the kids the rules, good sportsmanship, and some basic skills and strategy (spacing LOLOL).

Uh, what are the odds the opposing parents have a clue what offsides actually is? I'm not sure the refs in the league my 5-year old played in would have known.

And, unless your kids have far higher attention thresholds than my group, I think you might be overestimating how likely it is they'll execute this play even if you do practice it.

Obviously you should do this. Consider getting a handheld camera to tape the opposing coaches signals as well.

Demoralized? They are 5. They don't have morals yet.

You kid (I assume), but the other coaches in my 8/9 year old baseball league have all sorts of elaborate signs to setup bunts and "steals" (can't leave the base before the ball crosses the plate in this league). Never mind that none of the kids can bunt with a coach pitching (much less another kid who's as likely to bean them in the head as throw a strike) or make the throw from C to 2B.
