Default Hmm thought I was betting for value

Villain is 40/36/1.5 over ~60 hands. My notes are:
tries to c/r rivver with nuts
no r/ring flop or turn with NFD
capable of r/r flop, check turn with gutshot + lowpair, call riv

I know he's fairly thinking, as he called down a bluff from a maniac with lowpair, but past that he hasn't done anything remarkable despite having such high #s. Steals blinds lots from what I've seen. Surely he knows I have AA or KK here? And he would r/r pf with JJ-99, so he can't have a marginal overpair? Or am I overthinking this and should have called?

fold is fine, but i think checking the turn is probably better in general.

Baluga theorem, when check/raised on the turn your 1 pair hand is no good.

Folding should be standard here against 90% of the villains.
