This book hasn't anything to do with "Professional Poker", only getting prepared to be a pro, which anyone with some common sense should know how to do (or figure out on their own)

[/ QUOTE ]
Shouldn't they also be able to figure out strategy on their own? Or are some people good at different things from others, do you reckon?

ummm, I think it's a far cry from learning the intracacy of poker strategy compared the majority of this books content.

I know you do. I was suggesting you think about other people.

Hi MCS:

I gave Blade's book an 8 because it does cover stuff that's important and is reasonably well done. However, it contained nothing new and is just a summary of what some others, including myself in Gambling Theory and Other Topics, have written.

Also, from a publishing perspective, if his other books have not appeared by now, I think it's very doubtful that they will ever make it to print.

Best wishes,
Mason

Figured it out? This book hasn't anything to do with "Professional Poker", only getting prepared to be a pro, which anyone with some common sense should know how to do (or figure out on their own). Like you said, this book delivers nothing on poker strategy and that's why I said it's one of the most useless poker books I have ever read and I stick to it.

This book is neither "professional" or "essential" like it says in its title and how you can say that it delivers what it intended is quite laughable.

This book should have been called "Getting prepared to play poker for beginners".

If you thought it was a great book then fine, im not going to harp on this.

cheers.

I think you answered yourself just fine.

Then I am not seeing what you are seeing. I looked in Chapter 13 and on pages 114 and 115, he talks about bankrolls for no limit cash game players. He says "you need 800 times the big blind if you are a no limit expert."

That's the exact same chapter/pages I looked at. Maybe different editions of the book??

This is what my 114 looks like.

my page 114 is different to yours. Im quite sure it's the same as Doc's, and mine is a first printing.

It has a section called "No Limit Players" and he indeed mentions you need 800xBB if you are an expert (it's actaully at the very start of of page 115)
