Default NL10: AQ hits TPTK against absolute maniac

villain is 82/5.9/7 over 30 hands. Should I have folded to the giant raise? Call and re-eval seems bad here -- I think I'm committed if I call with this hand against this type of opponent (and especially given that an ace would come on the turn -- but that's beside the point). Or is that just -ev thinking?

Villain's bet/3-bet represents a lot of strength, but, then again, he's a psycho. If we're raising the flop, I think it should be because we're willing to go all-in with our TPTK.

With that aggression, and those stats, I'm usually happy to get it all in against someone w/ TPTK, especially seeing as as we're barely more than 100 bb's deep.

yes you are folding or shoving this.
but even if villain is a maniac he bet the flop you raised him and he reraised you.
so he is saying that he has something good to go all in with.
does he take this line a lot in the session?
or does he fold when he finds resistance?
i raise more with this hand to $2.50 and fold to his reraise
if i didn't see villain playing his draws aggresively

Stats are not a read. Do you have an actual read? Have you seen him 3bet a lot? Either way, I would go broke, but if the only reason you know he's a maniac is because of his stats, you might be playing too many tables.

As played, if he truly is a maniac, you have to be willing to stack off with top pair here. It's high variance, but that's the price we pay for playing with such creatures.

However, I agree that:

Stats are not a read.

Here we only have 30 hands on him, and AF numbers are notoriously slow to converge. Given that his PFR% is only 5.9, I think we would need much more evidence than his stats alone peg him as a maniac. Do you have any notes on how he plays postflop?

I don't think this is high variance at all. Really low imo. Shove, fistpump, etc.
