Poker Comps at Harrahs

Just wondering if anyone here has played at least semi-regularly at Harrahs or Showboat AC and looked at the comps.

They take your card now, and when I clocked out, asked what the rate was. I was told $.75/hr. However, I haven't noticed the reward credits on my card when I checked online and I put in about 12 total hours over there this weekend. Anyone know if they are giving 75 points per hour (which is what the stated rate would add up to by my calculations), or if they must write you a comp at the Poker podium, or something else?

If I earned RCS for poker, I could probably make my way back to Platinum pretty easily if I wanted to....

I never bothered to check my comps for Showboat poker, but even if you get 75 rewards credits per hour, I highly doubt this means you get 75 BASE (aka TIER) credits at the same rate. that would be the equivalent of playing $3750 through a slot machine in 60 minutes, or $7500 of video poker. extremely unlikely that the Total Rewards system would give the same to any guy playing $1/2 NL or even higher. it's possible that Harrah's doesn't give Tier Credits to poker players at ALL. I would call or e-mail their corporate support - they are usually very helpful.

That's what I was thinking. Seems too easy to rack up points playing poker. Although, dollar for dollar, if Harrahs gave Tier points, reaching top tier at either Harrahs/Showboat (Diamond) or Borgata (Black Label) would be similar by only playing poker (1000 hours at Borgata for $1/hr, or ~1300 hours at Harrahs). So the numbers kind of suggest that they could give tier points.

I'll e-mail customer support and see what they have to say.

your proportion calculations aren't quite right for Harrahs. it's 10,000 tier credits for diamond (4,000 for platinum), so based on 75 RC's an hour you'd only need 133 hours of poker to qualify (53 hours for platinum), neither of which is remotely possible. for Total Rewards diamond to be on par with Borgata black card, they would have to give at least 10 tier points per hour, which is the same as putting $500 through a slot machine. since AC house edge on slots is about 8%, it would be the equivalent of making the casino $40/hr. this is simply not realistic to match with poker rake except for maybe the highest limits (if even).

It takes a few days to get comps credited into account. I think they do it once a week. comps from Slots are credited same day. tier credits are no where near as much as comp points.

My bad...you're right as far as the calculations go. I was comparing apples and oranges.

Looking at it as $.75 in comps = 75 points (which is accurate, as 100 points = $1), if they gave you those points, it wouldn't take long at all.

I sent them an e-mail asking for clarification on how you accumulate/redeem your alleged $.75 per hour, and will see what they say.

Finally got a reply from Harrahs. This makes sense. Bare minimum in "Base" credits are earned, so getting up to the next tier by poker wouldn't be nearly as easy as I had hoped...boy, they're sharp over there... [img]/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

You do earn base reward credits for Poker. It works out like this .50 an hour is 6 base and 44 bonus points, $1.00 is 6 base and 94 bonus and $2.00 is 6 base and 194 bonus points.

It takes a few days for poker comps to show up in the system. When they do you just take them as you would any other comps.
