Did this kid get fired?(I'd fire him IMO) [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure whether he was fired or not. I'll ask my coworker and find out later. I doubt it, though. He's an intern who will be gone in a month or so anyway. From what I picked up from the email, it seemed like the boss found the humor in the situation, and he only wanted to teach the kid a lesson. Worst case scenario, the kid doesn't receive an offer at the end of the internship, imo. |

This kid was handed a great opportunity and could not even muster up the will to not get black out drunk for one night and show up to his new job the next day. This being on the first day, he also used the family emergency excuse which lacks a lot of class. [/ QUOTE ] Where is it specified that this was the kid's first day of work? |

Don't feel bad, its in his left hand tho if you can make your eyes wander over that far [/ QUOTE ] Your response was MUCH more clever and effective than mine was going to be. nh, sir. ... wait a minute. Re: Stupid intern gets owned by boss via email
The lesser person might slink away, quit his internship, and ruin a significant future job opportunity all in an effort to "save face", which by this point is impossible.
The greater person might stroll into work on Friday in the same exact costume, walk right up to the boss, apologize, and get right to work for the rest of the day without missing a stride. It sounds like David has at somewhat of a sense of humor, albeit a little crude, and if anything would serve to put this in the past I think this might be it. So tell me, all you management-level people, what would you do if Fred came up to you given these circumstances, dressed in costume, and said "Sir I just wanted to apologize for lying to you and not having the balls to take a personal day with proper notice. Oh, and just in case not everybody in the office knows about this, well walking around in this for the day should pretty much fix that." |

Re: Stupid intern gets owned by boss via email
The intern's line for this should be to claim the photo was from a Saturday night party - not Wednesday night.

Not that it's really a similar situation, but when I employ students, I understand that they're students first, kids second and employees 3rd. If they wanna take Thursday off 'cause they got loaded on Friday, I don't care as long as it isn't a habit, just don't [censored] lie about it. We know, we're not dumb.
