Many people here highly recommend Kaspersky. I got it about a year ago and have had no problems.

I prefer Kaspersky for AV, and Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy for anti-spyware (even though Kaspersky also has anti-spyware). Kaspersky will be a load on your system, but possibly may be less of a load than your Norton. I don't like Norton's consumer version. Their Corporate version is better, though (quicker definition updates). Kaspersky can be configured to check for definition updates every *hour*, which is nice for protection from the newest known threats.

Nod32 is also good....better than Norton and McCrappy, and less of a load on your system than Kaspersky, but IMO it has gone downhill from their awesomeness of 4-5 yrs ago.

AVG is prolly the best free one out there, and doesn't load your system much at all...and is still better than Norton and McCrappy...but IMO not as good as Kaspersky and Nod32.

There are other anti-spyware programs that are good...but I have no personal experience with them since if Adaware and Spybot S&D don't remove something, I'm taking the malware out manually.
