I literally just started using PT yesterday and when I fired up Stars the seats were wrong for the players sats (it didnt take into account I sit at seat 5 at each table) I went to the PT forum and downloaded a patch to correct this problem, which it did.
Should I be worried?

Relax everyone. I can assure you that the check for new version process cannot harm your PC in anyway. The reason it hangs now is only because the site is down temporarily. Hopefully it will be back up soon.
