Re: The Most Hated Family in America - Westboro Church/Cult
I hate to keep cluttering the thread with stuff like this, but both links in the thread are dead and I'd really like to watch the documentary, it sounds fascinating.
Anyone have a fresh working link? Thanks, Stak |

Re: The Most Hated Family in America - Westboro Church/Cult
Thanks very much swingdoc,
Wow, that was an enthralling documentary. Truly amazing. I also find it hilarious in a sad way when people throw things at them out of cars or say "Omg I hope they die a slow, painful death, I want to kill them!" I felt many emotions while watching, the strongest being pity. I certainly don't hate them though. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Stak |

stak,
i want them to die because our world would simply be a better place if they were dead. not to imply that this doesnt go for the majority of people. |

Fair point PITTM. I didn't mean to target you in particular with my post, and hope I didn't offend you.
Wanting them to die is an extremely human and natural reaction. The problem though is this: How does you wanting them to die (and presumably being happy should they die tomorrow) differ philosophically from them rejoicing at the death of American soldiers/AIDS victims/etc.? Stak |

I hate this cult as much as the next person, but 12 million for picketing at a funeral seems a little excessive no?

Stak [/ QUOTE ] part 1) I hadn't said anything before so I wasn't offended at all. Don't worry about it. part 2) On some level, its no different at all i guess. But I think we all know that it is different, or else we wouldn't react this way. Sidenote: i watched a video on the Patriot Guard Riders today, and while I usually don't think religious, ultra patriotic bikers would be cool, these guys actually had a pretty awesome moral stance. They just went, parked their motorcycles between the funeral and the WBC, blasted patriotic music to mask the chants from the WBC and waved giant american flags to block the signs. Very cool imo. |
