Re: New AFI 100 (best American films)
Rushmore:
David Lynch will never make it on this list. They wouldn't let him. Fight Club would not belong on a list like this either - stylish, yes, shocking, yes, but lacking in real substance too. It's another movie that to me has gotten worse with time. |

[ QUOTE ] These are the ones I haven't seen, which should I see first? I'm leaning towards Dr. Strangelove. [/ QUOTE ] That's an excellent place to start. The film has aged wonderfully and its black humor is probably more common now than when it was released. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, could not disagree more. |

Re: New AFI 100 (best American films)
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] "Toy Story" - I think including this and the other animated movies is really just an effort at some sort of filmmaking political correctness. [/ QUOTE ] Disagree. I'm not actually sure I've ever seen more than half of Toy Story, so I can't comment on the movie per se, but look at what that movie has spawned over the past 10 years - it's pretty ridiculous. [/ QUOTE ] Right, and I'm saying that being the first doesn't make it a better movie. What, without "Toy Story" we wouldn't have computer-generated animation? Oh, thank God for the angels that brought us "Toy Story", what would we be doing without them? [/ QUOTE ] Toy Story is one of the best children's movies I've ever seen. Most children's movies are nearly unbearable for adults. The Pixar films are actually really entertaining. |

Re: New AFI 100 (best American films)
Since arguing about the list is so subjective...
How many has everyone seen? (you have to have seen the whole movie from beginning to end at least once.) I've seen 76. City Lights and The General are the only ones in the top 25 I need to catch. |

Re: New AFI 100 (best American films)
way behind with 34; probably about 15 that I have seen bits and pieces of
I just have trouble convincing myself to watch an old, cheesy looking movie. So that nixes a lot of the list. |
