Re: Computer set up
This looks pretty good. How much you paying?
Don't you mind Microsoft Office is'nt included? And are you buying this pc to play the newest games? I think the graphics card might be too weak for this.. |

Re: Computer set up
I was really just fooling around with it on the Dell website. I believe with the monitor the cost was around 1200 or so.
I am more trying to justify the 2k I may need to spend to get the 24in IMac by seeing costs. I didnt even get into it enough to see that office wasnt on there. Yeah that is an expense I would need to add in. good catch. I would have to look, but that graphic card may be all that they offer on that model. I wouldnt be using a computer for video games, but more for poker/daily life |

Wold this video card allow for dual monitors? Also hwo big a difference is it to run vista on 3gb of memory at 800hz vs 4gb at 800hz?

Re: Computer set up
It probably wouldn't make any difference using 3gb vs 4gb. Because of the way Windows handles addressing it cannot address all 4GB of the RAM, about .5 to .8GB are taken up by other things, like the video card memory.
For most applications you will rarely use more than about 1.5GB of RAM at any time. I have noticed my quad core processor using up to 2.5GB multi-tasking and crunching big data sets. The same system with a dual core didn't go above 1.5GB with similar files. Not sure if this a coicedence or not. |
