Perhpas a retarded laydown 5/10

Villan in this hand is Kaj_Kyle, a pretty good regular who runs at 32/24 or something but isnt as aggro as it seems because the games on party play shorthanded moreoften. Basically a good opponent. The flop is standard, but its less likely im f.o.s becuase the shorter stacked player. I also think becuase of that he would call straight draws instead because 1. I go too far repping hands if an A hits and 2. I pay off a bit too much. Anyways, he called which could be a draw, could be QJ KJ KT something like that.

On the turn I check to him expecting him to bet all kings so the short stacked player pays him off, especially since id be likely to bet most hands with a K or better in my spot too. It really looks like I gave up so any hand that has decent showdown value (strong Q or K) I expect to bet here.

On the river, the 9 comes comleting the only draw. Shorty checks, I check and Kaj bets a good amount. Hmm, I dont think hed check a K on the turn, and thats a weird bet for a Q, so I end up folding putting him on the straight draw. Genious? Retarded? Only kyle will tell, which he promised he would after a bit of time. Im going up north for a day or two plus I dont know what he had either. In any case, its the biggest laydwon iv ever made, but in retrospect im really doubting myself.

Turn is 3 spade. 485 in pot. sb checks, I check, Kyle checks.

River is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. sb checks, I check Kyle bets 366, sb folds, I fold. [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

wow i'm prob not folding. and i'm not sure i agree w/ turn- what type of hands are you betting into 2 other players on this flop and willing to give up on the turn? I can't think of a lot.

what about leading the river? the river is sort of awkward after we check the turn which is why, as played, i'd have to call.

not sure. Depends what shorty did. But in retrospect firing turn is probably better.

I think betting that river is bad news. everything just got there and my read is hed prob. bet a K on the turn so if im discounting that heavily then betting makes little sense.
