Golf and track all 4 years, baseball for first two years in HS. Was decent but not great at all 3, and was the only white sprinter on the track team. Only thing I did in college other than intramurals was club swim team (although, I did go to a major D-I school - if I'd gone to a smaller school I'd probably have tried out for track or baseball).

Played a year of Junior A hockey (league below OHL) could have probably played university hockey but I didn't really want to put that much effort in.

lol @ park and rec leaguers who know all of their stats

[/ QUOTE ]

Umm, everybody's stats are kept on the league webpage. Also, this is a poker website...is it that shocking that a poker player who plays baseball would know his stats!? ZOMG NO WAY. We only play like 40-50 games in a calendar year. Not too difficult to remember stuff.

How the hell else are you supposed to make sure you are improving?

[/ QUOTE ]

Also, in defence of Prohornblower, he posts regularly on the sports events site and is clearly knowledgable about not only primary baseball stats, but other advanced statistical measures as well.

It seems natural that if he is into both baseball and stats, that he'd want to know his own stats, regardless of what level he is competing at.

Dana Hills. We beat Notre Dame in a baseball tourney my senior year (1992), but that was many moons ago.

Was a left tackle in high school. Had some division I schools interested, but blew out my shoulder in my last game. Kinda glad it didn't work out though. There is nothing more painful looking than a former lineman.

stopped athletics in high school to pursue debate and speech.

restarted after finishing school. started to play adult league basketball and pick-up in my late 20s. I've moved up from being the worst player to being the 5th worst player at the JCC.

No OMHL, went from hometown team (we were something like DD, basically played B,BB teams) to AAA (2 years) to Junior A(played for Newmarket) to rec leauge at University. Kind of sucked because I couldn't play high school hockey as a result of playing Junior(my school team made it to the (I think AAA) OFSAA semi finals my senior year).
