I am having some difficulty with the pronunciation of the word "gyro." Back in the day, I thought the word was pronounced "jye-row" just like it looks. But then I found out that the gyro sandwich is pronounced like "euro." Then, sometime earlier this month, I was ordering a sandwich that had gyro meat on it, and I said "euro meat," and the girl looked at me weird. So I then said "jye-row" meat, and she understood what I meant, and I got the sandwich that I wanted. This confused me. So I must know, does the pronunciation of "gyro" depend on its usage, or is it always pronounced the same way? BTW this is very important to me imo.

When somebody is accused of being a racist, sometimes they say something along the lines of "I'm not a racist, I have many black friends." People take this as confirmation that the person is indeed a total racist. I've never understood this and have been too embarrassed to ask. Wouldn't having black friends be evidence against somebody being a racist?
