Default Immigration Reform Bill

First, here's a linky to a blog by a Harvard economist blogging about the subject. For our general edification.

Question: Do Hispanic Americans and Hispanic immigrants who are here legally support Amnesty? Do they support amnesty without increased border crossing patrols and enforcement?

It seems to me that the clear beneficiaries of the Bush proposal (let's just assume securing the border is a sham promise) are business owners. The clear losers are existing low wage workers, such as Hispanic immigrants, both legal and illegal.

linky appears to be smoothies, not economics.

you'll have to expand on your reasoning a bit, but i generally agree with that.

Borjas' argument is basically that increased immigration, which will almost certainly happen under the current proposal, will depress even further wages for unskilled and low income workers. Therefore, the bill enriches business owners at the expense of the working class. There is another interesting article on his blog about the correlation between incarceration rates for blacks and low income whites, and rates of immigration.
