Default poker bot world championship

U Alberta won everything, beating CMU and three other programs.

http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~games/poker/

The winner made almost 20 BB/100 on average.

The winning program is in Poker Academy.

This is cool in one sense, but worrying in another.

This was limit HU? Wouldn't mind seeing how they play.

Those Alberta people are good. Artificial intelligence was the main focus of my work for my master's degree and we read some of their papers in my computational game theory class. It is very interesting stuff.

Yes, limit HU. Apparently one of the bots they used is in Poker Academy (www.poker-academy.com). It's called "Sparbot". The software also has the best limit ring game bots, also from the U Alberta group.
