($11) AKo out of position
Playing AK out of position is not always so easy for me.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) MP3 (t1420) CO (t1885) Button (t1205) SB (t1340) BB (t1410) UTG (t1495) UTG+1 (t1400) MP1 (t1540) Hero (t1805) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises to t90, MP3 calls t90, CO raises to t240, 3 folds, Hero calls t150, MP3 folds. Correct to call t150 reraise with AKo OOP this early in the SNG? Flop: (t615) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets t240, Hero folds. What could CO be re-raising 240 preflop yet only bet 1/3 pot on the flop? I guessed that any Q or pocket-pair had me beat here but the smallish flop-bet seemed like he had pockets <= TT and was slightly scared of the Q on the flop. In either case, I think I am behind with my 6 outer and folded. Correct to C/F this flop? |

Re: ($11) AKo out of position
i think you played it fine.
in the 11s, if a preflop raiser c-bets a decent amount and you missed with your AK, just fold it every time. |

Re: ($11) AKo out of position
I'd shove or fold preflop, with a inkling towards folding, since it's only L2. Calling leaves open the possibility that MP3 could get out of line and reraise, and that would just be a mess.

Once you check and he bets, you have to fold. What about stop-n-go'ing here?

Re: ($11) AKo out of position
Checking the flop felt wrong at the time because it almost guaranteed that Villain would c-bet, which almost guaranteed that Hero would fold - which therefore raised the question of why call t150 pre-flop if Hero was just going to C/F anyway on the flop if an A/K or big-draw didn't materialize.

Re: ($11) AKo out of position
Preflop aside as I've already addressed it, but it's okay to check/fold a whiffed AK, especially this early on.

[/ QUOTE ] it could work but early vs weak opponents its just not that profitable when theres no huge all in bet that your threatening villain with. fwiw i completely agree with dano here. folding preflop or pushing are both reasonable at this level. as played, check/fold i guess is fine. |
