Moral issues
I'm Not sure where where this post is supposed to go but OOT seems fine.
What bothers me though is that i am not sure if I feel morally right to play poker for a living. You're basically preying on the weak to make their mistakes so you can take advantage of that. Of course it's their choice to gamble so they should accept they can lose, but you are contributing to their failing. I suppose it's like that with alcohol as well and I dont think id feel very guily about having a bar. But is it really the same? Anyway really just wondering if other people have felt morally wrong about living off poker. |

Re: Moral issues
you are providing entertainment for them.
Basically every business out there preys on people that are weak to make mistakes. Grocery stores prey on impulse buyers, etc, etc, etc |

Re: Moral issues
Thats sort of how capitalism works.
I have better stuff+better prices -> I put other people out of business. |

Re: Moral issues
This is a ridiculous question. You're not cold-calling strangers and selling them stock in non-existent companies. You're playing a game against other willing participants who have shown up specifically to play the game.

Re: Moral issues
It use to bother me, now it doesn't. First, they are going to lose their money regardless of if I play or not. Second, as I get older I believe more and more in the right of individuals to do what they want. It's not up to me or the government to babysit them and make sure their every activity is positive and healthy.
