When people say that a particular format sucks, it often just means that they don't know how to play it. I played NLO8 for years in backroom games, and it comes in a wide variety of moods: sometimes playing like spread limit, sometimes like pot limit, and sometimes playing like gangbusters. Also, it's a good idea to have at least some experience playing NLO8, because if you ever get into a REALLY good pot limit O8 game, the money will be going in on the flop anyway, so it's good to have an idea of what to look for.

This is pretty much right on. I like NLO8; bad players play worse. It also seems to attract retards. Just look on fulltilt, usually half the table has 20-30% of a full buyin.
