I actually played my very first live tournament as a WSOP event last summer, with being backed 100% by a guy that nows plays the circuit. Anyway I believe our deal was, after the buy-in and my expenses, we split 60/40 to his advantage.

This was in the Limit-O8 event, so it was a tournament with an absolutely unbelievably awful field, so I guess it's a bit different than $10k. But, it literally was my FIRST live tournament.
