Default Zero Republican Pickups

I was just checking out the vote master and he currently has zero Republican Pickups in the House and zero Republican pickups in the Senate. Was it this bad in 1994 for the Democrats?

So far I only see one possible pickup for the Republican's in the Senate and that would be the Thomas Kean vs. Robert Menendez which Real Clear Politics has it at Menendez +3.5 currently.

Can anyone point me to any polls that a Democratic Incumbent is down in?

Menendez and Cantwell were having problems for a little while, but now both seem somewhat safe, with NJ still being a tad bit iffy, but looking better by the day.

I recall hearing today that it would be the first time in history that a party re-elects all of its incumbants that are running.

No, in 94 things were not this bad for Democrats. They actually did pick up a few seats I believe (in the House).

Polling is much worse for Republicans this year than it was for Democrats in 94. However, Republicans are much better at politics than Democrats were in 94. Actually both parties are much better now. Huge blowouts are much less likely now.

1994 was the biggest swing of seats against a sitting President in US history, so yeah it was worse.

There are a couple house races like GA-12 where Republicans may make pickups. I have been planning to make a "state of the election" post for a couple days and will try to include that if and when I do.

The GOP has many more seats up for re-election in 2008 and they generally say that an election won by less than 60 percent could be a potential battle. I cut this from the votemasters site. He explains it a lot better here that the Democrats will have about 6 seats that they can lose vs. 12. The Votemaster
