So the wife called my hand here:

Me: "Can I donate more money to RP in your name?"

Her: somewhat consternated look (like, wtf are you wasting your money on now): "Do you really think he has a chance?"

Me: (long pause) "Well, I want to help get the message out, and he needs money to do that"

Her: (consternated look)......

You: Ok honey, so we should only give money to candidates who have a good chance to win? Who should we donate to then... giant douche or turd sandwich?

My rough calculation is that Dr. Paul's fundraising for the month is rising exponentially at the rate between 8 and 9% per day for the month. That trends out to about $3.5M by the end of the month, leacing only a $0.5M deficit for the fundraising target. Given what happened last quarter, plus the fact that end of the month paycheck will be hitting donators, I believe a last minute push will hit the $4M target.

I still think $12M for the quarter was too aggressive.

Given that the donations are rising, if he can hit 3.5 for October, 12 seems very reasonable for the quarter. Then again, people probably give less in December.

I will say that it is very early to assign exponential growth. In fact it probably isn't exponential. It's probably just linear with a weekly sinusoidal modulation. I've trying to get additional data so that I can better decide.

Also, it looks like today is shaping up to be a terrible fundraising day; the worst of the quarter. So if you've got an extra $25 laying around guys, cough it up for liberty! I just did.

I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who wrote "A man who surrenders plasma for liberty deserves to have neither."

That said, Thomas Jefferson was in no position to have foreseen a candidate like Ron Paul, and selling your TV for freedom is probably a good thing to do. Put it on ebay with the promise that all profits will go to RP's campaign!

Not that kind of plasma, but I'm sure they'll take it.
