Default AKs in a live 6/12 Game

Reads:

Button: literally plays ATC, but seems to raise with decent stuff (I've seen 88 and AQo).
MP1: Very, very loose preflop, but plays well after the flop.

UTG folds
Hero raise Ah Kh
MP1 calls
MP2 folds
MP3 folds
CO folds
Button raises
Blinds fold
Hero 4 bets
MP1 calls 2 cold again
Button caps
Hero, MP1 call

Button has 8$ left and is obviously going all in. 15.5 small bets in the pot, MP1 and I have plenty of chips.

Qh 6d 2s

How does hero proceed on this hand? Is it worth getting aggressive to try and knock MP1 out here? Do I just need to check/call this flop?

Easy check/raise. Given the stack sizes, mixed feelings on your cap.

Good, we're on the same page. So I check and MP1 bets...Button goes all in for 8$, so it's 8 to me to call...or I could raise to 12. So that didn't really work...what now?

Also, why don't you like the 4 bet? I figure to have MP1's range crushed (he'd call two cold with probably 50% of all hands).

Pot is too big to fold with overs and backdoor staight and flush draws.

Preflop is standard.

Capping might inspire the button to check behind in this spot. Also, letting him re-open the action once might be useful if we decide to lead out.

Is it just me, or does this seem like we've wandered into a nasty spot? The cap/check essentially defines our hand as AK or QQ if MP1 is conscious. And he most likely puts the button on nuttin' just like we do.

When he bets the flop, I figure him for paint with the Q, like QJ or KQ, maybe QTs. And he will not be folding for two more bets--his great cold-calling skill having been amply demonstrated preflop. Plus he has position so it will not buy free cards. I say call the raise. Regardless of MP1's action (call/raise into dry sidepot), we re-evaluate on the turn. If MP1 still fires and we have not improved, it's time to say goodbye.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. We didn't cap, we 4bet, and 3handed if button didn't 5bet we would probably be leading this flop.

OP, I think this is a fine place for a c/r. MP1 will never fold a better hand but it's worth getting rid of even something like 78o if we can.

I'm assuming a 4 bet cap.

...and more often than not we miss, so putting pressure on MP1 to not see 5 cards is good as our hand plays great against the "I want to bust out so I can go home or rebuy" range.

Then you need to reread the OP.

EDIT: OK, since you're not the only one who missed this apparently:

Hero raise Ah Kh
MP1 calls
MP2 folds
MP3 folds
CO folds
Button raises
Blinds fold
Hero 4 bets
MP1 calls 2 cold again
Button caps
Hero, MP1 call

Yes, the casino I play at has a cap of 4 raises. It's quite a nice feature, I must say, given the crazy cold-callin-skillz you run across.

So I called the 8 dollars and MP1 called 2$. Now we've got 9.5 big bets in the pot and the turn is:

Qh 6d 2s [3c]

I check, MP1...checks.....

Qh 6d 2s 3c [9h]

I check, MP1 checks behind. Was I wrong to check here? Should I have bet and tried to get him to fold?

Here comes the best part....

MP1 shows Ac6c with a grin on his face. I muck (of course this is completely out of order). Button looks at the river and says "I don't want to open my 9", flashes the two of us the nine (I swear, it was a 9), and carefully puts his cards directly in the muck.

Button and I have a pretty long history, and he's an idiot. But this...this was just amazing.
