Pretty true - doesn't really work well with our media.

I think another main problem is that to the typical machismo driven American sports fan, soccer is considered a wuss sport. I mean, listen to Jim Rome (any clones here btw?) talk about his son taking up soccer, etc. As long as soccer is considered lame and uncool, top high school atheletes will play other sports (namely football) instead of soccer. Without awesome homegrown American talent to get behind, no one will care. As long as no one cares, we'll never get awesome homegrown American talent.

lol @ number of shows determining the level of phandom. 12/11/97 was my first show. I didn't appreciate as much as I should have at the time tbh (being like, a teenager stll mostly brainwashed by pop radio and also knowing very little about music theory etc). I'm 27, so I wasn't around for the 94/95 runs.
