Move up to 40/80
Is 1200 hours at 20/40 long enough for validating a player's winning rate?
I'm going to stay at LA for months and would like to move up and try out 40/80 at Commerce for the first time. However I keep hearing from people talking about that 40/80 games there will be much different from 20/40 ones. How different it could be? Bigger swing? Smart players with worse hands but good post-flop plays? I usually play tight and agressive style. Does this mean that it wont work there anymore? Any advices are greatly appreciated. |

Re: Move up to 40/80
What is you're winrate at 20/40 ? I've only played the 40 once but it didn't seem much tougher then the 20/40's I've played in, depends on the line up though obv. and the time I played it was late night/early morning. I think it would take some adjustment but if you are a winning player you should adjust just fine with the proper BR also obv. GL.

Re: Move up to 40/80
check out my post about converting online to live, they had a lot to say about how soft the games are up to 100/200.

The 40 game is more aggro in general so you'll find the swings bigger. If you can withstand greater variance at double the stakes, go for it. The games are just as soft. |

Theres enough fish at the Commerce $40-80(from what I've seen, I haven't actually played) that I would think you would rather sit at a table with a few of the really bad calling stations. Their presence in a game mitigates how much damage some of the super laggy players can do. Thats the only thing really that I think might make the $40-80 more difficult than $20-40....the increased chance of getting constantly caught between two hyper aggro players with second best hands and draws. Winnning over 1200 hours(at 1BB an hour = 48000) seems to be more than enough to move up levels to me, or at least to take a decent shot. |

Re: Move up to 40/80
You'll generally have a bigger selection of games to choose from at the 40-80 than the 20-40. But in both, you'll be put into the must-move game first. The drop is the same for both games (total of $5 if it gets to the turn) and you'll get free food (of generally mediocre quality) in both.
There's a big pool of players at both stake levels, a bigger pool at the 40-80, so it's hard to say "the game plays like this." As much as one can do that, though, the 40-80 plays, generally, about as loose as the 20-40, but more aggressively, particularly on the turn. |

Re: Move up to 40/80
Thanks for all advices!
As I can see now, game slection is my weakest point. I usually don't change tables at all. In general at what time of a week the games are good? According to you 2+2 players, is there any LAG player who is winner at all? |

Re: Move up to 40/80
Games are worst betwen ao AM and 1 PM mid-week.
There are indeed LAGs who do well at Commerce, as they play very well post-flop. |
