luegofire,
you fail to realize how much it is worth to get rid of the shortstacker and have her/him replaced at the table.

luego and I talked about this - this is a short-term 'gain' but a long-term loss, so it's ultimately -EV. Making -EV decisions against shortstackers will only make the desire to shortstack greater - I hear lots more players considering doing it when they are tired/bored/whatever.

I can see some situations where you'd want to get rid of the shortstack - fish to your right who you'd like to isoraise/call with a wide range, shortstack to your left - but to call every time based on that ridiculousness only makes shortstacking more viable and increases their numbers.

punish their button raises from the blinds and their SB vs BB raises. they are opening wide ranges from here and can't call a shove w/ a ton of their opening range.

Finally someone offers at least some constructive advice on the subject. Since most short stacks are playing for money and they don't need huge bankrolls to play that style, donating that money to a short stack pretty much ensures that it'll disappear from poker. It's sad how many otherwise good players simply refuse to reign in their feelings on the subject and simply won't analyze the actual situation/play involving short stacks. Most short stacks profit beyond the rake not because of bad players, it's because otherwise good players play badly against them because they don't like them.

Luego,

I dont get it. id rather a good short stack and a couple of bad tags than everyone knowing how to play mr shortie. surely if people arent wise enought o work out how to play vs short stacks you want them at your table.

of course id prefer no shorties but if you want people to leanr how to beat them your in effect giving them the tools to beat you.
