NL $2 #3
Villain had only been at the table for 4 hands.
In those 4 hands he had been heavily involved and betting during 3 of those. Basically I just figured my pair was good. Thoughts? Re: NL $2 #3
You should raise the SB completion with a playable hand like JTs, you'll have position throughout and it also sets you up to steal on the flop. As played flop is fine, his turn donk is worrying, and the river is definitely a fold. As a rule of thumb, stacking off 150+ bbs with top pair/mediocre kicker is a bad idea. Calling river overbet shoves with less than a monster is also a bad idea.

Sivadom is right imo. You definitely need to raise that preflop everytime. It's great to bloat the pot when you have position over a reckless guy when you have a hand that has the potential to flop monsters. Raising the flop is ok but calling is also an option to keep it small since he seems to like betting big. I agree with what siva said about the rest of the hand.

Re: NL $2 #3
Thanks for the reply.
I agree with the idea of calling overbets and committing with 150+bb with top pair is bad. For some reason I just got the feeling he was pushing a flush draw. What kind of hand would be making these bets with? If he had an overpair, wouldn't he want to raise pre or re-raise on the flop? His call just on the flop led me to believe he was drawing or semi-weak. I don't know. At this level it seems silly. I find that I run into monsters where they bet small on the flop and turn and then all of a sudden push on the river. I'm glad they do that obviously, giving good odds usually to draw out on them. In this case he showed up with a busted flush draw. Thanks for the comments. |
