I think if they cut it back to 20, it would be a huge step in the right direction

Maybe this is a topic for another thread, but I have to believe that a lot of these minor bowls lose money. Are these bowls really a worthwhile investment for these corporate sponsors?

I'm not sure
If they were a negative investment, I don't understand why companies would line up to do them and why more are showing up.

However, this reminds me of attending the 1988 All-American bowl in Birmingham, AL. In the parking lot, there was a car chalked up like a highschool going state card that read, "6-0 and headed to the National title" in big white letters. The "0" was crossed out and replace with a red "5" and "the National title" was crossed out and replace with "the armpit of the South."
FYI-Florida started 6-0 that year and went 0-5 the rest of the way after an injury to Emmit Smith. He was back for the bowl game and ran 55 yards down the sideline on either the first or second play from scrimmage IIRC. It was a fun game, but judging by the stadium and crowd, I cannot believe it was a moneymaker.

Florida vs. Ohio State - loss
Arkansas vs. Wisconsin - loss
LSU v. Notre Dame - win
Tennessee vs. Penn State - tossup
Auburn vs. Nebraska - loss (close)

[/ QUOTE ]

I see Ark beating Wisc
Tenn beating Penn St (close)
Aub beating Nebraska

I think the SEC has some favorable matchups for their better teams.

Tom, are you still upset about the Kansas St game? At least Baylor took it to em since the Horns couldnt. Sorry, I couldnt resist.

I dont think the SEC will win out in their bowl games this year but I dont think it will be such a romp as you are suggesting.

Almost every bowl generates a massive amount of money.

Only ones with horrid matchups (for their bowl) generate almost no cash.

why the hell are georgia/kentucky/sc even in bowl games?

[/ QUOTE ]

How do you leave Alabama out of that sentence since they have a worse record than all 3 of those teams?
