The thing is like 95% of short stackers are terrible. I've played a ton of MTTs and SNGS and they all suck and all the shortstackers play so suboptimally

A good shortstacker, is essentially unbeatable. They play very close to an unexploitable strategy and profit from our mistakes. All you can do is minimize your mistakes against them, but the biggest problem is not your calling ranges, it is your PFR%. Anyone with half a brain can make money shortstacking if you sit at a table with 5 guys with PFR's near 20%.

Adjusting ranges won't help you much, most of their edge doesn't come from exploiting your calling range.

This is true, but you're wrong. Most of their edge definitely comes from people being even worse at 20xBb poker than they are.
