Default JJ from Button Late

90 player, 6.50 BI
14 players remaining
250/500 125 ante
7 players

MP(ESS 31,000) opens for 1800, fold, Hero all in for 11000, fold, fold call.

Should I have smooth called preflop and re-evaluated or is my push good given the range of the big stack being wide open here. I was hoping to see something like A-10 if called obviously. (BTW A-10 wouldve got me on the river)

Stacks sizes and a read on MP would help an analysis. Has been out of line and abusing? Or has he been a rock and this is the first hand he's raised in 5 orbits?

However, as presented, this is obviously am all-in or fold hand given your stack size. Your a coinflip against two overcards but it is up to you whether you want to risk your tourney on a 50/50.

If you are the shortstack, I think a push is mandatory.

As presented, I think the push is fine. You could easily be against AX or an underpair as well as in a coinflip. If called you are probably no better than 50-50 but you have a reasonable chance of taking it down right here. I am assuming that 9 get paid and that you do not just want to fold into the money.

I think calling would be an okay decision here, we have position on our opponent who is likley to c-bet any flop. It is going to suck if an A K or Q falls, but even then we can get away from the hand and not be too short stacked, we may also be able to take it away if he checks say a Q or K high flop. We also could stand to double up if and A K or Q falls as well as a J. If he does c-bet on a blank flop we will win an extra 2k off the hand lets say. I think pushing for 1/3 of his stack is only guranteeing a call from a better hand, I doubt we will every get called by something kike 88 here, maybe TT but thats just one hand. AK would be the only other hand that we would be happy to see him flipping over. Although your chip position isn't great I like a call here.

top 18 were paid, MP was fairly aggressive with his big stack. Blinds were 1.5-2x my stack. Good points on the call Coz. Something that made me decide to push was pot amount due to the antes. I was currently 11th of 14 players.

Pots >20% of your stack so this is push/fold...JJ is definitely good enough to shove over one single MP raise...ALLIN!

I definitely shove especially since raiser is aggro big stack.
