Thanks for all the responses guys, sounds like I have alot of things to see and food to eat while I'm there. As of right now the only scheduled things I have are White Sox vs Yankees on the 17th at US Cellular and Cubs vs White Sox on the 18th at Wrigley. I'm thinking we'll catch the Saturday day game at a bar outside the stadium. If anyone has any hotel suggestions please let me know as well (anything under $200/night is fine).

Ahh yes, i forgot about Gino's East. Also delicious.

To those dissing Uno's: just to clarify, you have been to the ORIGINAL Uno's that's near Michigan Ave (on Ohio, I believe...), yes? If so, then you do not know pizza.

Lou's is ok. Actually no. Lou's is delicious if you get sausage (they do a sausage patty layer instead of chopping it up and putting it in there). Also, lou's puts the sauce on top of the cheese. Different than others, but delicious.

Giordano's? Umm...no. It doesn't suck. I would describe as "fine".

Also, [censored] the cubs. The stadium is TERRIBLE. It's [censored] impossible to see, the seats are uncomfortable, and the food absolutely blows. The ONLY thing that is nice is the fans. Sox park has amazing food, there isn't a bad seat in the house, and you won't have to buy tickets off stubhub. If you want to go to wrigleyville, go and get trashed and hang out with the girls after the game is over. Don't waste time on the game.

Oh, and yes - portillo's italian beef is like sex for your mouth.

I just got back from the Rockford/Rockton area. One thing I didn't really know is how close you are to some major cities. I had my first experience at an indoor water/amusement park in The Dells WI, which is maybe 2 hours from Chicago. Rockford has a Discovery Museum which was interesting for a few hours. They have a really cool paleontology exhibit. I hear the fishing is good.

Try to find a Mom and Pop hot dog stand for the Italian Beefs, Portillos is good too right downtown. The original Uno's is good but on the corner is Due's which is better. Gino's is great as well. Get to Wrigley the Cubs might be bad but its the best park in baseball if you repect the history of the game, plus after the game plenty of bar life. The Cell is a bad cookie cutter type staduim in the ghetto. I do not care for the Sox but they have a good team

My friends and I hit up a cubs game and white sox game last summer and toured around Chicago. We had a lot of plans, but didn't keep all of them.

We only got to one pizza place (Girodano's) and we put down a large between 3 of us. We were so sick afterwards, but I still crave that F'ing pizza constantly back in Cali. That pizza is ridiculous good.

We went to SuperDawg, but it was a subway and bus ride to get there, probably not worth it, but the fries were great. Their hot dog was pretty good too. We also went to the Weiner's Circle after a late night of drinking on Rush St. (which was pretty run of the mill for bar hopping). Weiner Circle was pretty much what you expect. Crazy frat guys yelling at the ladies working the counters and the ladies spewing some major vulgarness at all of them. Their hot dogs were good though, but the "famous" cheese fries were horrible.

We also went to the United Center to take pics in front of the MJ statue.

As far as the ball games go, Wrigley's atmosphere was cool, as well as the surrounding parties after the game, but new Comiskey sucks pretty bad. A decent new park, but I'm a Giants fan and AT&T Park kills most new stadiums, so I wasn't too impressed.

We wanted to go play poker, but the shuttle that was supposed to pick us up never showed. I believe we were in front of the Hilton, we kept calling but the dispatch people from the casino kept telling us they were almost there. We waited for over 45 minutes of when it was supposed to be there and it never showed.

All in all, Chicago was a cool town that I'd like to spend more time in. There were bunches of reccomendations for restaurants and food that we never go to visit, but I definitely want to go back.

I just got tickets for my bro, dad, and myself (Christmas present) for White Sox/Yankees May 15th. There's like less than 1% chance you'll get Cubs/Sox tickets so you should consider this series. Even as a Sox fan, I'd recommend giving Wrigley a visit. History and all that. U.S. Cellular is much much improved as well.

Lots of cool [censored] to do in Chicago. Just follow the suggestions in this thread.

When's the last time you were at U.S. Cellular? The park has improved so much since it's opening. By no means is it a top 10 park, but I think it's pretty solid after the renovations.

It was definitely a boring park before renovation.

It was last summer, July 3rd was the game. Nothing to hate about the Cell, but it isn't impressive in any way either.

Best italian beef is at a total dump of a place in Hazel Crest called OASIS BEEF HUT. It's a dilapidated shack that has room for a kitchen and a counter, and that's all.

Best italian beef you will EVER eat.

I doubt you'll ever be out of the city, but it's unbelieveable.

If you stay in the city, I think the Italian beef recommendation should be Al's. Also, for late night food, hit up the Wiener Circle. Put down 10 bucks, ask for two large chocolate milk shakes, and let the good times commence.
