Value Items (Your Experiences and Recommendations)

My first thread here. I thought I'd make a classic movie thread, but figured we have several movie threads, so maybe I'll wait a bit before I make one.

Mainly this is a thread dedicated to value in relation to cost. As I look around my house, I see items that have little value (in relation to the price) and items that have great value (in relation to the price). Obviously some things bare more use to each individual (maybe that 15k guitar is really worth it for you), so don't hold back.

Some examples in my case are:

Portable Radio (high value)
Magazine Subscription (moderate/high value)

Now the portable radio is a 10$ am/fm model I bought at Old Navy. This thing sits in my bathroom and provides hours of value for when I am taking baths, sitting on the can, in the shower, etc... It literally is the most valuable (value to dollar ratio) item in my house. Now this item may be out of circulation, but I am sure you can pick up a cheap alternative (possibly even ipod compatible).

The Rolling Stone Magazine keeps me up to date w/ the pop world + has sexy photos of women. Its not really a "household item", but an item in my house none the less. For about 1$ a month I get 26 magazine a year. INTERRUPTION: (Venus Williams looks good on Letterman right now) IMO, these magazine have more value than say a pack of gum or a coffee you get for 1$.

So I guess I'd like to hear your recommendations; weather it is cologne/ hygiene product, electronic product, or just some random thing that has struck you. I am more inclined to hear about bang for the buck type of stuff as apposed to "my 86 inch plasma kicks ass" (unlessthe plasma is under $100k or whatever it costs).

Move to OOT if unworthy.

Amphipod micropack [put keys etc. in when exercising] (~$8)

Those are the first things that pop to mind. The first three I use every day, the Amphipod 4-5 times a week. And each of them do a better job at their task than anything I've had in that category in the past.

completely agree with this.

and some of my own.
24 pack of miller lite (~18) always nice to come home after work and enjoy a couple cold ones.
ESPN Insider (~50 a year, comes with ESPN the magazine subscription) allows you to access I would say 70% more articles and much more information people like to know.
My ipod (~however much they cost now) I use it everyday to and from work which ends up being ~1hour 40 minutes a day, also when i'm working out which could be another 2 hours a day.
My Cooler (~30) Allows me to bring my own beers to the beach instead of hanging out in Castaways all day and running up a couple hundred dollar tab.

verizon wireless internet card for laptop. pokering while riding shotgun on decent lentgh car rides is awesome. i think it costs like 700/yr or something but is obviously well worth it if you play decent size stakes. of course there are many other spots it comes in handy as well.

How well does the phone card work? Like can I 12 table on it where verizon has good reception? No need for regular internet anymore?

For value I say 5 mountain pass($400/year) = bliss, especially if you can average couple times a week.

DVR. Some of the best money I've ever spent (monthly fee option from cable service, rather than bought.) Poker books. Whatever magazine subscription I'm currently enjoying. Nothing replaces a hard copy you can bring in the car, to lunch, in bed, etc.

-Oil based scents, long lasting. Purchase a bottle use it for years as long as your not bathing yourself in the stuff.

Assorted Revlon Professional "Beauty Tools"(~5-20)
-Stainless Steel; Tweezers(Fine,Blunt,Slant Tipped), Blackhead Tool, Clippers(Finger, Toe, And Ingrow Tool), Scissors(Fine and Blunt). These are the best grooming tools IMO, I keep three sets one in my briefcase, travel kit and bathroom. And if you happen to loose one of the tools you can just swing by a CVS and grab a replacement.

-magnifying mirror (with light.) You won't use it often, but it's convenient to have.

-Netflix. Kind of obvious, but it's really cool to load up your queue with good movies and then get them in the mail one at a time. I will actually put the DVD in without looking at the sleeve so that I don't know what I'm going to watch until the menu pops up.
