Ban effect on CP?

???? This has NOTHING to do with OP's Question but.

From playing in WA everyday smoking bans suck.

Now I smoke but if smoking was allowed somewhere inside the casino then I would not be away from the table as long.

But it is hurting the games.

Every single day the 3rd man walking rule is enforced because 4 ppl are outside smoking (yes me too but I only go when everyone is back)

The problem with the 3rd man walking is since there is a poker room on every other block most of the rooms do not have the player base to enforce the rule.

If there is no one on the list to play then the 3rd man walking rule sucks.

The good thing is after 4 ppl get up to leave for their smokes the room drops down to a single big blind. Not much comfort but it's something.

If your room has a big player base I don't see the ban hurting that much. But if it's in a place like lakewood and there is no one on the waiting list then it hurts.

Like I said at least I have the courtesy to wait untill almost everyone is at the table before I leave. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

TI is still max $4 rake. The 2/10 has been pretty juicy lately and I've seen the 4/20 going pretty consistently on the weekends. How good is that game?

Now if only they had shufflemasters in their card room. It's not like they can't afford to lease them. Some dealers there are pretty sloppy at shuffling the plastic cards.

Did you mean the rake is reduced? It sounds like you are saying the blind structure changes short handed.

Smoking bans are a good thing. People will adjust. Change is scary, I know, but in the end everyone will be happier for it.

I'm an ex-smoker, but I can't even go into Casino San Pablo any more (too bad, cuz I'd like to work there). I get sick every time, because they have smoking in the building (not even in the poker room).

Good health is good for poker. Kill yourself if you want to, but don't force me to breathe it in or make my clothes and hair all nasty.

At some WA state rooms, the rake is only $2 with 6 or fewer players at the table; in others, there is only a big blind and no small blind.

The random drunk players, incidentally, get a lot more excited about no small blind than about the rake reduction.

It wasn't until I quit smoking a couple of years ago that I really came to appreciate how disgusting and obnoxious a habit it really is. And I was one of the few who usually went outside to smoke and didn't litter my cigarette butts like a lot of people do.

All the AC poker rooms are smoke free now, and even most of the pit games (75%) are as well. The NJ sban prohibits it in indoor public places elsewhere, and people are still going to the restaurants and bars just like they always did.

As far as the whole "smoker's rights" thing, yeah, that's pretty much a joke.

All of that aside, I can't say that it's hurt the poker games one bit here at all. Bally's was the last poker room to have smoking, and that hasn't changed a bit (still mostly sucks).

I think TI and the Grand Casinos are going to see a bussiness increase in the next few months.
I love the TI 2/10 game even though I'm on a cold streak out there.

I don't post here very often but I had to chime in on this subject. There is nothing wrong with a room going non-smoking, but why have the government mandate it. Card rooms should be pissed about this. One, it takes away their right to run their business as they see fit. Two, if there is such a public demand for non-smoking rooms some manager will pick up on it and make his room non-smoking. By passing the smoking ban the government has essentially taken away a rooms ability to capture a certain market segment.

As for non-smoker who get sick around smoke, don't go to smoking rooms. If there are enough of you who fill the same, then a room will open that caters to your preferences. Yeah Free Market.
