Casino Security at Luxor in Vegas

I've gotta bet with a friend that I need solved. Is it appropriate for a minor (under 21) to cut through the casino floor without being checked at the entrance without being approached by the casino security. They are not trying to gamble just get through the casino tables without being id'ed. Just cut through the tables and all of the table games without being asked for identification. Just to be clear they are not trying to approach a table to place a bet.

edit to add: I have gotten a couple of PMs about this. Typically there will be a carpet in the casino with some sort of colored path on it. This is where those under 21 should walk. They should not wander into gaming areas.

I was unaware the colored carpet paths were the pathway of the minors. I always noticed the obviously delineated aisles and just figured they were showing everybody the major routes.

So is OP talking about just trying to get from point A to point B in the casino? That's certainly allowed in Vegas. Vegas hotels are set up so you really MUST go through the gaming areas to get to non gambling things (like restaurants, room elevators, parking garages). Minors can transition through, but they are not supposed to loiter and are supposed to stay away from the one-armed bandits and tables games. Stick to the major aisles and keep moving.

But if OP is wanting to play games and dance around the pit and sidle through the slots and just hang around...that they don't want you doing. If you're close enough to reach the coinslot of a slot machine, you're too close.

Could you shortcut through the pit area and not be bothered? Sure--it'd be unusual for you to be bothered by security. Even if someone happens to see you moving between the rows of slots, say, as long as you keep moving with a purpose in one direction they probably won't chase you down. If you happen to bump into a security person or manager-type, I'd expect 'em to let you know you're outta bounds and to send you back to the aisles.

On the other hand, most casinos are not Vegas casinos. Topeka's Prairie Band (formerly Harrah's Prairie Band) Casino has guards stationed at the main entrance and at the gateway between hotel and casino. You don't get past those guys without showing ID if you look young. Missouri riverboat casinos don't let you on board without ID.

I've always thought it kinda odd Vegas casinos don't have security stationed at the entrances. Wynn does, but I don't recall regularly seeing security at entrances anywhere else.

Well put. From the thread title, I'd guess the OP was trying to see if going from Mandalay Bay to Excalibur cutting through Luxor was possible for minors. And in that case, the walkway through Luxor is one of the widest in Vegas.

Missouri, and most other riverboats, are laid out different than Vegas casinos. The casino is often a seperate area, and there is no reason to go in, unless it is to gamble. The resturants are usually outside the casino area.

In Vegas, often to get to the "front" desk you have to go thru some casino area. The way the casino is arranged, a minor could not even get to their parent's hotel room without entering the casino, hence the need for "walkways".

The two casinos I frequent in AC (Borgata and Taj) are both laid out like this. Gaming is on 'interior' areas with wide walkways to get around. There's basically a perimeter around the gaming floor at Taj and the same at Borgata, but also a couple intersections in the middle.

In either case you can easily access any nongaming area of the property without entering a gaming area.

I've read some stuff that suggests Nevada wants better separation between gaming and non-gaming areas. Wynn is the most recent major casino built and they DO, as I think about it, have nice wide paths around the perimeter. I hadn't thought about that until now.

And if you "wander" off the path, that is what gives security the authority to approach you, ask for ID, and ask you to return to "approved" pathways. And just because you do not see security, there are always the eyes in the sky in LV. I saw two kids who were hangin in a nearby gaming area while the parents enjoyed a Starbucks in the MGM. Security decended within 5 minutes and both "yutes" and parents were "advised" about the magic carpet rule. lol.

In CT and Cali Yough's cant even get onto the Floor.
