teach me how to play big stack poker - big draw with 200BB
New to the table at Absolute (can buy in for 200BB), unknown villain.
At a 100BB game, I think my turn play is pretty easy given my new gutshot straight draw - push into villain's bet. But with big stacks like this, pushing (~180BB) seems a little ridiculous (or is it?). I realize that he is donk betting me, should I be raising to say $75-100 or is this pricing me in to a 3bet push? I'd appreciate comments on any streets. what does a UTG call usually mean? usually from taggy guys, its a pocket pair alot, or some suited ace.. i would still raise turn if he is aggressive and fold to shove obv. since you got FE. so id raise to 78.
if hes passive i call and hope to hit river. |

i raise turn, you have a lot of FE vs any single pair, and if he calls you still have outs.

I don't see anything wrong with how you played this hand. Villain limp calls from UTG. You give no info on him, but assuming random average I think suited or connected cards of some sort. 45 and 67 fit nicely. Check calls flop, again 45 and 67 fit nicely.
Bets turn, 45 and 67 still make a lot of sense. Now, raising is silly here because he's not folding 67 and 45 obviously isn't going away. Calling is by far the best turn play. River is obvious. Have to fold. |
