Re: Any interest in an OOT book club?
to all,
so everyone knows, the point of a book club is to be open to ALL books and to expand on your probably aready extremely vast taste in literature already. i am saying this b/c posters are going to start recommending books and people are going to start getting uptight about the book selected when they should just relax and read it. with that said, i am open to any book suggested. late, ~td |

I think it would be a poor choice for first book, there are way better things out there. It has some funny and interesting bits but nothing much more than that. Worth reading, but I think it wouldn't be too great for discussion. |

Re: Any interest in an OOT book club?
SD&CP is a tough book, 'cause it's a collection of essays. I think you'd want something with a slightly more unified theme.

The first book should be:
"Surely you're Joking Mr Feynman" I'm serious. |

i'm in. oot inspired me to FINALLY read catch 22, as well as confederacy of dunces and global brain. [/ QUOTE ] i'm finding catch 22 pretty dull after ~50 pages, does this preclude me from the book club? |

Re: Any interest in an OOT book club?
All,
Isn't the idea to read a book we've never read before? Doesn't that make it hard to recommend one? How about we go off the NYT best-seller list or something? |
