High school reunions: will you go to yours?

OK, show of hands: how do others feel about going to these? I have a sense of dread and morbid curiosity about mine, sort of like seeing an accident ahead on the highway and wondering if any carnage will be visible when you drive past, and not sure if you should look or turn your eyes away.

Obviously, if you're still in HS or only a year or two out, this may not seem like a particularly interesting question, but as you get to be an old fart like myself, it sort of becomes the topic of the week.

In my case, it's time for my 25th year reunion (woo hoo, class of '82...and yeah, I said I was old...). In some ways, this is even worse than turning 40, because while turning 40 was a private milestone, this is, by its very nature, a group gathering that just serves to underscore how much you and your friends (or classmates, whatever) have aged. Meh.

Anyway, after wrestling with this a bit I've decided to go. Anyone else given the matter some thought? Will you being going to your high school reunion when the time comes?

I would never go, but I do enjoy when the idiots from my HS look me up on facebook and I get to see that they're still working retail and living in the past.

Went to my 10th and it was pretty lame.

Plan on going to my 20th later this year, just to see who is bald/fat and to catch up with some old friends who I haven't seen since the 10th.

Definitely going to my 10th reunion, but it won't be for another 5 years. Hopefully I'll be retired by then.

I thought I was avidly hiding from my 10 year, but my slacker class didn't have one.

I want to know who is

1- gay
2- married to another classmate
3- dead
4- fat

This can be accomplished without actually going.

I went to 2 high schools and I'll probably go to the 1st HS i went to since I don't get to see my old friends from there as much. The 2nd HS I hang out with my friends from there regularly so I'll skip it.

i'm definately going to go to all of my reunions, i went to a small, all male private school so everyone is pretty close and really good friends. i'm kind of excited.

Why the hell are you on Facebook? This seems, uh, contrary to someone who "would never go" see those "idiots."

I went to my 10th this past November.

1. One girl showed up with her "partner". She introduced her as her partner all night.

2. My wife and I are the only ones in a graduating class of about 220

3. Two people died. One was brutally murdered by someone that lived next door to her. The other one died of a drg overdose.

4. I was surprised at how good everyone looked as a whole. I was expecting much worse for most people, and there were a couple different 5's or 6's that turned into 8's.
