Cheaper alternative: Brush your teeth with Comet once every 6 months. It works.

The standard thing to do w/ the in office bleaching like in Peachy's experience is to provide custom trays to wear at home. The initial change w/ the in office is temporary but the custom home trays actually bleach the teeth.

wtfsvi: possibly not your final shade although 3 months is enough time to stabilize. Usually shades stabilize within 2-4 weeks.

I dont know about that comet thing but wouldnt recommend it.

My teeth are pretty yellow due to drinking a lot of dark soda but I haven't done this stuff yet. WIll probably wait a bit until the "technology" gets better or whatever.

One thing that looks absurd to me is when you meet people who've obviously had them whitened to like the max and their teeth just look stupidly fake and way too shiny. It's like I don't think "Wow those are great teeth." I think "Wow, those look really fake and weird. How distracting."

these seem to work pretty well for me although they don't last as long as advertised.

MicroBob,

I haven't done teeth whitening (my teeth are still pearly white!) but I know some people that have done Zoom which is the new way to do this and they have all loved it. It took an hour, worked, didn't hurt, didn't leave their teeth sensitive. My question is when did your Dad do the teeth whitening b/c I guess some of the older versions where a real pain?

I think he and my sister both were trying this stuff a couple yrs ago. At-the-dentist and the home-tray thing or whatever.
My Dad said that it oozed to one side of his mouth and was really hurting him. He has a pretty high-tolerance for pain. Recently had hip-replacement surgery and practically didn't feel a thing or need pain-killers afterwards.

My sister tried the crest-strips thing because my Dad's dentist experience was so bad. She tried it for a few minutes and it was killing her.

If I want to really try this I'll look into the Zoom thing I guess.
But I'm happy just using the whiteine-rinse for a couple minutes as well as a whitening toothpaste and hoping that it is somehow keeping my teeth from turning completely brown.
