Potential structures:
1.Start with 50k in chips
2.100/200 blinds
3. Basically Double blinds every 17 hands (1/2, 250/5, 5/1, 1/2, 250/5, 5/10). Much more fair than timed levels.
4.Everyone plays everyone till bust (matches = num of entrants -1)
5.Guys with best record square off (if >2people tie, repeat step 4)

I think the blinds should go up at some point. If not, there is going to be that one match that never ends with everyone else just waiting around to start the next round. Think about it, 300xbb 2 out of 3 matches? This can take a really long time with some players. Is this all supposed to take place in one day? Is everyone suppposed to agree to be available for a certain number of hours during the tournament? Some matches may take several hours and some others wont.

alaei,

I think the tournament would span several days, if not weeks, whereby the players playing eachother contact one another to play.

DA,

Sorry, most people have played in this type of thing on here previously. What we have done in the past is have set matches and give the participants, say, a week to play their match at their convenience. Then they report their results and the next round goes when everyone is set to play. We know everyone is busy and can't necessarily set aside a ton of time for this type of thing in one solid block.

in the msnl hu tournament (similar styles probably, i'm talking as far as how much time the matches would take) my matches ranged from 30 minutes (for one) to like 8 hours

obviously you can play other tables, but it's hard to pla 300bb deep with 12 going, so it kind of hinders you to a point

ok, I think it would be a good idea to come up with a structure/schedule that way the participating players would have a better idea of what entails before commiting.

OK, here is my suggestion, if people who are going to play can either agree or suggest changes, maybe we can reach a consensus soon and then try to finalize money and participant details.

- Tournament starts August 5th.
- Split people into 4 groups randomly.
- Everyone plays everyone else in their group, best 2 out of 3, 200bb stacks.
- First round matches must all be completed by end of August 18th.
- Player with the best W/L record in each group advances to semi-finals.

- Semi-final participants are seeded by W/L record with total number of games lost acting as tie-breaker.
- Semi-finals are best 2 out of 3, 200bb stacks, single elimination.
- Semi-final matches must all be completed by end of August 26th.

- Finals are best 3 out of 5, 200bb stacks.

- What do people want for payout structure? I would suggest 75% for first, 25% for second, but obviously it's cool if you guys want a flatter structure, say, 55% first, 25% second, 10% third and fourth? That way, you at least get something for getting out of the first round?

Sounds good to me.

I think 3-4 should get something like 25k back, whatever % that turns out to be, and 1st and 2nd should split the rest 70/30.
