Default General life questions / observations / random whatever thread

Have a random question about something? Sweet web link? Random quick anecdote to share? Looking for some general advice/feedback on a situation?

Here's the place.

The Boardroom

Do this look like a cool franchise?

Would any of you use such a place?

JB,

I dunno, but apparently others have similar ideas:

If I worked in that neighborhood, I'd maybe shell out for the $65/mo package.

Men's skin care sales have been growing at about 15-20% a year for the last few years so there is certainly a market for this type of place.

I currently order my skin care products online and go to normal salon for the rest. If there was a male-centric salon I'd use it. I use to go to something similar but they went out of business.

I assume you are asking because you are interested in owning a franchise. The one issue I have is that the products seem to be limited to very specific brands. They are good brands but I'd prefer to have more options. I am also not sure if you'd really gain much from owning a franchise over just opening your own independent salon based on the same concept.

James,

I go to the American Male Salon in Mountain View, CA. It looks like the same thing, you get free drinks (no alcohol anymore, thank you government and liquor license laws) and hand wax, facial, etc.

I pay between 50 and 60, and don't think it's worth it. Yet I still go, and they are ALWAYS full, I can hardly ever get in same-day.

If there aren't any close to you, I say go for it!

lippy,

It's pretty damn good. Nine at the Palms was also great. Delmonico Steakhouse is maybe a little more on the traditional, fancy dining side, whereas Nine is maybe a little bit more modern, hip feel. I dunno, I love them both, they each have a different vibe to them but both are great.

Has anyone here been in a motorcycle accident they truly believe they could not have prevented?

Definintely going to have to go with Nine as it's going to be 4-6 of my friends and me, all under 25. I think an El D recommendation is all the more research I need to do.

yeah, i went to nine in vegas for my 21st with 7 of my friends and was thoroughly impressed. the place wasn't super crowded or loud yet, but it was still a fun dinner, and the food was very very good. my waitress even brought me a few birthday shots on the house.

i HIGHLY recommend the creme brulee, if you like creme brulee. that's definitely the best i've ever had. i've also heard the delmonico's creme brulee is good, so i plan on getting that next i'm in vegas (hopefully december).

some of the other food that i highly recommend are the "shrooms" appetizer (mushrooms stuffed with king crab), and the asparagus appetizer (although it doesn't look like it's currently on the menu).
